Why a Young Researchers Conference?
If foundry technologies are to keep a leading role among the manufacturing technologies of the future new talent, new knowledge and new skills need to be attracted to our industry.
The WFO is offering young researchers and early career professionals their own space to showcase what they can bring to our industry, and to acknowledge their work and welcome them to the foundry family.
On-line Conference
The Conference will gather previously selected 20 research projects among the proposals submitted by young researchers and early career professionals all over the world. The projects will be presented through 15 minute-long videos, and showcased to internationally renowned industry professionals.
The conference will be broadcast on April 16th for 3 different time-zones.
Program
Preliminary program for the event will be released in mid-March 2024.
The papers will cover 3 topics of high interest for the foundry industry:
CASTING SOLUTIONS
High-quality cast components meet diverse industry demands with reliability, multifunctionality, and eco-friendliness, and are evolving to cater to emerging markets like E-mobility and green energy.
DIGITAL METHODS AND ENGINEERING FOR FOUNDRY
The casting industry is focused on improving the casting process through digital methods, such as data analysis, AI, and sensor technology, while facing challenges related to sensor robustness and system reliability.
CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND SUSTAINABLE FOUNDRY
The casting process efficiently transforms primary materials into end products with low energy input, but challenges in recycling, climate neutrality, and life cycle assessments are growing in the industry.
